Name Ford GT90
What it is High-performance concept car
Public Reveal Date January 1995 @ the Detroit Auto Show
Termination Date The GT90 was deemed a ‘spiritual successor’ to the GT40 supercar but Ford was never really serious about putting the concept car into production.
Engine 5.9-litre quad-turbocharged V12
(strapping four turbos to a V12 was utterly insane back in 1995. The Bugatti Veyron with its quad-turbo W16 arrived ten years after the GT90!)
Power 720 hp @ 6,300 rpm (estimated) and 660 lb-ft of torque @ 4,750 rpm (estimated)
Transmission 5-speed manual
Performance 0 to 60 mph – 3.1 seconds
Top speed – 253 mph
(these stats were almost impossible to comprehend in 1995)
Highlights The GT90 concept car was based on a Jaguar XJ220 chassis and took six months to develop.

Ford designed the car to show off its ‘New Edge‘ design concept and this is evident in the abundance of sharp angles on the GT90.

The extreme design language of the concept would be considered futuristic even by today’s standards.

The exhaust system got so hot from the power generated that Ford had to install ceramic plates to protect the body panels around it.
