Termination The S5S Raptor was introduced strictly as a concept, but whatever plans the company might have had to put it into production never survived the 2008 global financial meltdown. In Nov 2015, it was reported that assets and intellectual property of Saleen were up for sale, including everything related to the S5S Raptor.

Who knows? The car might yet get to live the American dream someday.

Top speed – over 200 mph (estimated)
Highlights With a starting price under $200,000, the Saleen S5S Raptor was positioned as an ‘affordable’ mid-engine supercar that could compete with the Italian heavyweights.

The ‘S5S’ in the name is a nod to the 5.0-litre Supercharged Saleen V8 powerplant.

The S5S Raptor was designed to be run on cellulosic ethanol, a kind of biofuel (and official fuel of the 2008 American Le Mans Race Series).

The concept car has been featured in several automobile games, including Forza Motorsport 3, Forza Horizon 4 and CSR Racing.
