Concept Name | DS X E-TENSE |
Highlights | This wild concept projects what supercars would look like by the year 2035 It is the pet project of DS Automobiles, a Paris-based company. The company has a full portfolio of vehicles, mostly made up of plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles. DS Automobiles has an ambitious plan to transition to a 100% electric car brand by 2024. Inspired by the phrase, ‘silent as the breeze,’ the DS X E-TENSE is an all-electric concept with two electric motors supplying anything from 540 hp to 1,360 hp in the so-called Circuit mode that unleashes the full power of the car. The car, with its deliberate asymmetrical design, is split into ‘two’ halves; one side houses the driver’s cockpit while the other side is shaped like an enclosed capsule. The capsule includes a ventilated massaging seat for maximum comfort. Thanks to some ingenious technology, the car’s body can revert to its original form after an impact. A human-to-vehicle interface is facilitated by a hologram called IRIS, whose appearance is highly customizable. The wooden dashboard is laser-etched and incorporates a soundbar designed by Focal (a French brand known for its high-fidelity speakers). It was designed to be fully street-legal though it is not clear if there will be a production variant in future (the year 2035, perhaps?) |
Standout Feature | The unconventional design of the car is deliberately asymmetrical and almost resembles two separate vehicles mashed together; definitely, an extreme design compared to other concept vehicles featured here. |
